Curtains

My fiance and I just bought a beautiful house, and this is my first time ever decorating my own home. I want to put up nice curtains or blinds to block the bright sun in the morning. Is there any way NOT to put holes in the wall? I don’t want to hire a professional b/c I really want to do it myself. Do you have any suggestions on easy installation without holes or damage to the wall? Thanks in advance!

Looking for mail order companies who sell nice curtains and drapes…

… otherwise is it better for me to buy the fabric and sew it myself. (I have a sewing machine and a few skills…)
