We just bought a house and the sliding glass door to the back yard and the big window in the front have those vertical blinds on them. now my question is is there any type of curtain rod that will come out far enough to put curtains over the blinds? i would really like to keep the blinds but also want curtains (to make it more homey, ya know?) anyone have any suggestions. i guess my last resort is to take down the blinds completely but i really don’t want to! thanks!

Has anyone hired a window decorator or interior designer to pick out and then hang curtains for you? I’m talking about installing all the rods, panels, etc. Can you tell me how much you paid in total to that decorator or company? I want to see how my experience compares to others. Thank you!
Please only answer my question if you can give me a price that you or someone you know actually paid. I’m looking for answers with $$$$$$ in them. THANKS!

This is especially tricky as I also have the pull cords to contend with… currently the curtains are up over the rod so she won’t get to them at all (the curtains are almost floor-length when they are down). She constantly plays with the vertical blinds (and I rent so I worry about damages!). This is a 3-month old kitten so nothing is boring!

I’d like to find some modern window curtains like Urban Outfitters or Marimekko that won’t cost too much. What do you recommend?
